To get a good quote on your flight and ultimately a great price make sure you have everything you are likely to need - travel dates, travel times, travel destination, including departing and arriving airports.
At the same time why not look into the resort your travelling to too: |
| |
- Travel sections in newspapers
- Guidebooks and their websites
- Your destination's tourist board website
|
| Also refer to the section of the site about Terminal Information to see which airlines fly from Liverpool Airport. |
| |

|
| |
Start shopping around as soon as you know you are travelling. If you can't find the deal that's right for you today, then just try again tomorrow. Flight prices change all the time so don't be put off.
And make sure you check all the available avenues to purchase too - newspapers, Internet, teletext, travel agents etc.
|
|
| |
| |
Get a few quotes to get a good ideal of the price you'll be needing to pay, however if you get offered a great deal don't be afraid to book it. Or at least ask to reserve it.
To get a great deal you might need to rethink your journey. If you fly late or early it can be cheaper. Certain days to travel are cheaper too. As are certain airports. |
| |
When you call travel agents or airlines do so either very early in the morning when they open or last thing at night - they'll be less busy and they'll be able to spend more time helping you.
It's also worth asking if they know about any deals about to come up that aren't yet advertised. |
| |
| Nested Tickets |
| |
Try buying nested tickets through your travel agent if you want to save money and you are a frequent travellers.
Nested tickets only work when you're travelling on a regular midweek fare is over twice the price of an excursion fare (includes a Saturday stopover) to the same destination.
I.e. - your quote is £150 for a Heathrow flight from Heathrow to Belfast return going out on a Monday and coming back on the Friday of the same week but you can find a return that requires you to stay for a weekend and is priced £75 or less, it is worth buying a nested ticket.
Buy a £75 excursion return ticket leaving on Monday and coming back late in the next week. Then buy another £75 excursion return ticket with the outgoing flight from Belfast on the Friday of your return to Heathrow. The return journey of this second ticket should be dated early in the next week.
So this way you get two flights - one to use, one to nest. It's confusing but if you do the research then you are bound to get a cheaper deal. |
| |
| Split Tickets |
| |
| Or think about buying a split ticket from your travel agent which means you changing at an interim airport instead of flying direct. |
| |
| Low Cost Carriers |
| |
Low cost airlines offer their very best prices the moment the flights are released, and as more seats are bought the more the remaining seat prices go up.
If you by a ticket just before you travel the price will be far from 'low cost'.
And always remember, you need to pay taxes so your £1 flight could be much more, and it will be just one way, you need to buy two tickets - one for the way back too. |
| |
| And always book online with budget airlines to get the very best price. |

|
| |
|
| |
| Follow these few rules when booking you buy your flight from Liverpool Airport so you can try and avoid delays and get a little bit more leg room. |
|
| |
|
| |
- Try and pre-book your seats - major tour operators who've got their own airlines, Thomson for example, allow this for a small fee www.thomson.co.uk
- Find out what type of plane you'll be on, see if you can find an online set plan and then ask to be seated in your preferred seats
- Liverpool flights booked either first thing or last thing in the day are normally less likely to be subject to delays.
|
|
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
|
| |
|
| |
If you want an upgrade your best bet is if you are asked by your airline to move to another flight as the original is full. This means you're a 'bumped' passengers.
Then, if your delay is more than several hours you might get an upgrade as well as restaurant vouchers, entry into the executive lounge and such like.
If it's less you will be offered a food voucher and phone card.
However, before you agree, always ask how the airline will make it worth your while. |
